Prophetstown Fire District

      
             Established in 1955, the Prophetstown Fire Protection District serves 130 square miles in Whiteside County. The Prophetstown Fire District is one of the few totally volunteer fire districts left in Illinois. The hard work and dedication shown by these volunteers is for the love of the communities they live and serve.

           The Prophetstown Fire District has a Chief and Assistant Chief, that are in charge of the overall operation of the district. Which includes, the Prophetstown, Lyndon and Hooppole Fire Department's. The Captain of each station is in charge of the daily operation of each station with the help of the officer's and the firefighters.

            The Prophetstown Fire Department has a roster for 24 firefighters; this includes the Captain, one Lieutenant, two Second Lieutenants, a Secretary/Treasurer, a President and a Training Officer. Elections for these positions are held every two years.The Prophetstown Fire Department houses the chief's car, a brush truck, a rescue squad, two pumpers (one on lone from Alexis), a tanker and a rescue boat.

       There are two sub stations in the Prophetstown Fire District. One being the Lyndon Fire Department in Lyndon, Illinois.They have a roster for 20 firefighters; this includes the Captain, one Lieutenant, one Second Lieutenants, a Secretary/Treasurer,a President and a Training Officer. The Lyndon Fire Department houses one pumper,a rescue squad, a brush truck and a rescue boat. 

     The second sub station is the Hooppole Fire Department, in Hooppole, Illinois.They have a roster for 20 firefighters; this includes the Captain, one Lieutenant,  a Secretary/Treasurer,a President and a Training Officer. The Hooppole Fire Department houses two pumpers and one squad.
